San Francisco News

Milk

Milk is the current title of the upcoming biopic of Harvey Milk, directed by Gus Van Sant. The film about the assassinated San Francisco city supervisor and gay rights activist stars Sean Penn in the title role. Milk was shot on location in San Francisco, California and the famous Castro Street where Milk's camera shop was located was transformed in January 2008 to more accurately depict the 1970s setting of the film. The film was also shot at a number of other locations in the city, including San Francisco City Hall, Market Street and Duboce Park. Some interior scenes were shot on sound stages at Treasure Island (California). Filming most of the movie in San Francisco was seen by local officials as well as the film's producers as essential given that "Harvey Milk is such a San Francisco story."

Below is a picture of a protest scene being filmed on our block right outside the window of our apartment.

Happy Thanksgiving!

This Thanksgiving we had a "Turkey Showdown!"
Team White: Lisa's Dad (and Uncle Frank, jury is still out on his allegiance)
Prepared the Deep Fried Broad Breasted White Turkey

Team Red: Lisa's brother in law, Justin and grandma
Prepared the Bourbon Red Turkey, stuffed and oven roasted

After the votes were counted Team Red was announced the winner even though there is still much debate in regards to the outcome, since 4 voters abstained.

I love to eat! I spend much of my time during the day sleeping and sitting on my Amusement Park watching the birds and people walk by. I love kneading my mommy's neck when she comes home (so much that I drool)
Pet-Peeves:
water, getting my claws clipped, being combed, the vaccum, driving in cars
Favorite Toy:
disc flyer, bird toy that hangs off of my mommy's bedroom door, anything with catnip in it, toy mice, I love to play and hide in empty shopping bags or boxes
Favorite Nap Spot:
At the foot of or under my mommy's bed, on my Amusement Park, in the closet, on the ottoman
Favorite Food:
cat food, tuna, milk, ice-cream (I only get vanilla), peanut butter
Skills:
I can open up the kitchen cabinets and I play fetch with my favorite disc flyer toy
Dwells:
indoors
Arrival Story:
When my mommy went to Bide-a-Wee to find a cat I was in my cage meowing nonstop. She asked the vet why I was meowing so much and she said that I probably wanted to be held. With a pitiful look on her face my mommy said that she wanted to hold me. The vet handed me to my mommy and it was love at first site. I had a new home!
Bio:
Everyone always notices my super long whiskers. Although I like my independence, I'm also very sweet and friendly. When I hear the elevator's bell I run to the front door and await for my new friend to walk in so that I can rub myself all over their legs. I'm very curious about what is inside tall cups. I like to knock them over, but I hate when they're full and I get wet. My mommy used to have these cups that I liked to shove my head into, check me out in the photo. She doesn't have those cups anymore but I still like to knock over the ones she has now.

We've moved! (again)

Our building that we used to live in was sold and the new owner has issued the Ellis Act in order to evict all the tenants from the building. Therefore we had to move.
Although we were very sad to have to leave our apartment and neighborhood, we've found another apartment that we love. It has all the amenities that we were looking for and we can't wait for you all to come and visit us here.

Here are a few pictures of the apartment on moving day. To follow, hopefully soon, will be photos of the progress.

Lisa's Mom and Dad visit San Francisco

On Saturday mornings in San Francisco the Ferry Building holds one of the largest Farmers Market in the city.

We joined the other 10,000 shoppers here for tons of free samples and some of the freshest produce used for our dinner that night.

The vineyard so nice we had to go back twice! (those of you from NY, I hope you know where I stole this from)
Mom and Dad pose in front of the plentiful grapevines of Viansa Winery.

It's not summer in San Francisco without the fog. As the sun sets, we drive back into the city to see the Golden Gate Bridge disappear as the fog rolls in.
